BRAVE NEW WORLD

The series of 3D models arose in autumn of the year 2020 during the internship at the Sculpting studio 1. Due to necessity to pass away to distance form of education and also of artistic creation, it was needed to search for new devices of expression, which would allow to create spatial objects. The series of 3D models, out of which six were converted to its final appearance, shows this searching on one side and on the other also handling with never tried medium. Arose figures incorporate certain bizarreness, sculptural inexperience, often gaudy contrasts, and variedness with heterogeneity caused by several attempts and finding out the possibilities of creation in 3D space. Positions of models are answer on the assignment directed on positioning and creating 3D figures in motion. Inspirational sources, which leaded to certain positions, were particular kick technics from north Korean modern martial art “Tae Kwon-Do”. Soon after, simple completion of task was not enough fulfilling for artistic needs and so have begun the experiments with models, their permeation, dealing with phases of their motion, adding objects, disintegrating their body structure, adding colours, and in the end, working with space. With one exception, the models remained entirely in the 3D space, and were captured in rendered images or videos by computer. The only implemented model, in reduced measurements, is the “Swimmer on Springboard”. The figure was selected from the series because of its thematic agreement with the previous series of paintings named “Via Ūltima Natābulum”. The search for possibilities of cooperation between the two mediums, painting and spatial objects, are appealing for me until nowadays, and were the reasons for my internship at the Sculpting studio 1.
