OPPRESSION

A series of tempera paintings on canvas called "Oppression" is my bachelor's thesis at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Brno. Perhaps surprisingly, realized paintings are not aimed to any depiction of oppression, but are a possible way out of the oppressive impressions and compositions present in my previous paintings. The dominant motive in the paintings is the horse and the central theme of the works is contact with horses and its sensitive and emotional impact on humans. The purpose of the work is to capture my own feelings related to spending time with horses and transfer them reliably on the painter's canvas. In my bachelor's thesis, I further develop the possibilities of depicting emotions associated with contact with horses and a common interspecies understanding, which is something that continues to fascinate me. Hard-to-express connection with a horse, with whom we cannot communicate very successfully verbally or with gestures, and yet it can succeed that the horse is able to do exactly what we want, even before we want it. It is possible that despite the communication barrier we understand each other. This mutual understanding is preceded by the time we spend with the horse other than letting ourselves ride on its back. It is these moments associated with the care of horses that I try to capture in my paintings. For the presentation of the bachelor's thesis in the form of a series of paintings, after a long reflection and search for space, I chose the "Access Corridor to the Garden of Eden" at the Military Hospital in Brno. I considered more options where to exhibit my work, in the end I had the feeling that I would be very happy if my paintings had some content, function or significance for the environment in which they are exhibited. From the visit to the hospital, we usually expect help and at the same time care and attention, which is one of the motives in the exhibited paintings.
